Compassionate Kitten Care for a Healthy Start
Why Start Kitten Care Early
When to Schedule Your Kitten’s First Veterinary Visit
Common Health Issues in Kittens
- Fleas and Ticks: Kittens are vulnerable to external parasites, which can cause irritation and transmit diseases.
- Respiratory Infections: Colds and respiratory issues can be common in kittens, especially if they’ve been exposed to other sick animals.
- Ear Infections: Due to their tiny, delicate ears, kittens are prone to ear infections that may require medical attention.
- Diarrhea and Vomiting: Digestive issues are common in kittens, especially when adjusting to new foods.
- Ringworm: A fungal infection that can cause patches of hair loss and irritation.
Our Kitten Care Services in Charlotte
- Wellness Exams and Vaccinations: Kitten exams are scheduled every 3-4 weeks until your kitten is 16 weeks old to monitor their growth, administer core and non-core vaccinations, and prevent parasitic infections.
- Feline Leukemia (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) Testing: Requires just two drops of blood and can be performed during your kitten’s wellness check. Don’t introduce your kitten to other cats until these results are complete.
- Deworming: We provide deworming treatments to prevent common parasites and keep your kitten healthy and comfortable.
- Socialization Guidance: We provide tips for introducing your kitten to other pets and people safely and in a controlled manner.
Protecting Your Kitten With Vaccinations
Since kittens have developing immune systems, they are more vulnerable to infections, so it's important to follow the vaccination schedule carefully.
We administer both core and non-core vaccines:
Core Vaccines:
- Rabies
- Distemper
- Rhinotracheitis
- Calicivirus
Non-Core Vaccines:
- Feline leukemia (FeLV)
- Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV)
Introducing Your New Kitten to Other Cats

- Set up your kitten in a separate room away from the other cats.
- Let the cats smell each other through the door but avoid physical contact at first.
- After some time, place your kitten in a carrier where the other cats can see and interact with it.
- Gradually allow them to interact in a controlled manner.
Kitten Care Beyond the Basics
- Nutrition Advice: Proper nutrition is vital for your kitten’s growth. We provide recommendations on the best foods to support their development.
- Spaying and Neutering: We recommend spaying or neutering your kitten to prevent unwanted litters and reduce the risk of certain health problems.
- Behavioral Training: Start training your kitten as soon as you bring them home. Basic commands like "sit," "stay," and "come" are essential for their development, and early training helps prevent behavioral issues later on.
